Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Rebecca Y. Amesbury was born and raised in the agricultural community of Gilroy, California (known as the Garlic Capital of the World). She always planned on being a veterinarian when she grew up. She worked at veterinary clinics in Gilroy and Hollister, CA after high school and her appreciation for a Variety of animals was enhanced by the patients themselves and co-workers. Dr. Amesbury graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Bio- Veterinary Science (minors in biology, chemistry and Spanish). She spent 18 months in Santiago, Chile as an LDS missionary before attending Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While attending veterinary school, she worked as a small animal surgery on-call technician. She also worked in a research laboratory, dealing with monoclonal antibodies and Johne's Disease. She graduated with her doctorate in 2007, and spent 4 years practicing veterinary medicine at a busy five-doctor small animal practice in Spokane, Washington. Preventative medicine, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery skills were some of her areas of emphasis. Dr. Amesbury, her husband (Brian), sons (Porter & Preston), daughter (Cambria), and their Sphynx cat, Aimee, relocated to Utah in September of 2011. They enjoy nature, music, literature, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Amesbury enjoys all types of animals, although she has focused her medical practice on dogs and cats.
