Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Mechem was born in Ogden, Utah, and was raised in Texas. She received her bachelor of science degree in zoology with a minor in chemistry from Weber State University in 1985. She then attended the Veterinary Medicine Program at Washington State University/Oregon State University, where she earned her doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1990. After graduation, Dr. Mechem worked in a mixed-animal practice for 2 years, and then chose to work with small animals exclusively. Her primary interests are dermatology, parasitology, and canine internal medicine. She has been an attending veterinarian to the four-legged officers of Layton City and Clearfield since 1996. She lives with her husband, their collie, a Rottweiler, and an assortment of wild cats in Morgan County. In addition to being a veterinarian, she enjoys sewing, baking, race cars (go MMPI!), and RVing.
