Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Katie Rohrig has been with Mount Hermon Animal Clinic as a vet since July 2009 when she graduated from the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. Katie has a large interest in quality preventative medicine. Since she views her pets as family and knows many peoples pets are family she wants to help maximize the time and quality of life that people are able to have with their pets. Katie is also expanding her knowledge in veterinary dentistry and pocket pet and small mammal medicine. Formerly Katie Rigney, she is a hometown girl and has been part of our clinic family since she was 16, when she started as kennel help. Katie worked with us after school and on the weekends all through high school and during her breaks in college and vet school. Katie says she cant remember ever wanting to be anything other than a vet. Animals have always been a huge part of her life. She has been riding horses as long as she could walk, or maybe longer, and began showing at the age of 5. Katie also was active with the Pittsylvania County 4-H livestock club where she showed lambs, steers, and hogs at the local show each spring. Katie is involved in the community as a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church and the Junior Wednesday Club. She is also a member of the Leadership Southside Class XIX sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time Katie enjoys spending time with her husband Will. Katie and Will enjoy hiking, canoeing, and playing with their dogs Dixie, a German Shorthaired Pointer, and Macy, a lab mix. Katies 2 quarter horses Candy and Keri are still a huge part of her life, but she now mostly enjoys trail riding with her mom instead of competing in shows. Katie also has a sweet little house cat Ellie that loves to cuddle.
