Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Theresa G. Peace joined Locke A. Taylor Veterinary Hospital in 2006. As a doctor of veterinary medicine and certified veterinary acupuncturist, Dr. Peace offers a diverse array of medical care for her patients. She says that she's "always been interested in medicine, especially when receiving inoculations for traveling overseas," but that she dedicated her life to veterinary medicine over pediatrics because of her love of animals—particularly dogs and horses. Dr. Peace earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 from Virginia Tech's Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She's been practicing animal care for nearly 30 years, a third of which has been spent at Dr. Taylor's office. Her professional interests include complementary medicine and public health and regulatory medicine. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Peace shares her time with her dogs, cats and horses. She appreciates the beauty of dogs and horses, particularly how they work jobs they were designed to do, like field work and plowing/pulling. She enjoys dog show events, particularly field work and conformation. Dr. Peace has certified therapy dogs and enjoys practicing therapy work. Her passion and dedication to animal care has earned her an opportunity to appear on the television show "Dirty Jobs" with Mike Rowe.
