Veterinarian Overview
Karen Garrolini is hospital administrator for both veterinary hospitals. Those of you who have met her know that she grew up in Australia. During her early teenage years, her parents had a greyhound racing/training center that housed 350 dogs. She spent time working in a veterinary hospital, then switched career paths to work in the clothing industry. She returned to the veterinary field when she met Dr. Garrolini while traveling internationally. They opened Channel Islands Veterinary Hospital in 1987 and Las Posas Veterinary Medical Center in 1992. Karen believes in giving back to the community to which she belongs and has been active in the area since opening the hospitals. Their daughter and son, who are now young adults, grew up here, and Karen has offered her support to area schools, the YMCA and local animal organizations, as well as participating in fundraisers to help those in need. Currently, she and Dr. G have one four-legged family member, Matilda, a Golden Retriever affectionately known as Tilly or Silly Tilly when she is acting her age, which is now three years old. When not working, Karen enjoys exercising, traveling and being a docent at Lotusland in Montecito.
