Veterinarian Overview
Dave received his BS from M.I.T. in 1999, DVM from Cornell University in 2003, and completed a residency in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. He passed the ACVIM Neurology certifying exam in 2010, and is currently awaiting thesis defense.He previously completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego, and completed additional training in neuroimaging and neurosurgery at Canada West Veterinary Specialists. Dave came to the SF Bay Area in 2009 to practice at a specialty hospital in the East Bay before helping to organize and operate the first neurology and neurosurgery service in San Francisco through 2013. After a change of scenery helping to launch the first dedicated neurology clinic in New Mexico, he is excited to return to the Bay.Dr. Geiger is proficient in all areas of medical and surgical neurology, and has special interest in less-invasive spinal surgery techniques, use of novel spinal implant devices, and treatment of head and spinal trauma. He has authored publications on surgical and medical neurology, neuropathology, and neurophysiology in companion animals and primates. He is a past president of the San Francisco Veterinary Medical Association and has enjoyed being active in local community outreach organizations. In addition to regular appointments and 24-hour emergency services at United, he is available for phone and email consultations.Outside his veterinary practice, Dave's interests include motorcycling, boating, mountaineering, and spending time in a hammock.
