Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Paul Mennick developed an interest in veterinary reproduction working summers in high school on a horse breeding farm in Marin County. Upon graduation from UC Davis in 1985, he went straight to New Zealand to be the resident veterinarian for Nevele R Stud, the largest horse breeding farm in Australasia at the time. That began three years of dual- hemisphere breeding seasons; two in New Zealand, another in Australia, and in the Santa Ynez Valley. While overseas, he spent time with several cattle and sheep breeding experts, and for seven years was the only veterinarian in the western USA performing laparoscopic AI in sheep. In the intervening 25 years, he developed expertise with dogs, goats and swine, and has operated an AKC-approved semen processing center in Los Molinos for the past decade. He has taught courses to colleagues from many countries, performed consulting work in Mexico, Canada, the Phillippines, Puerto Rico, Australia, New Zealand, and for the Government of Jamaica. Actively involved in semen and embryo import and export, his Los Molinos facility is USDA inspected and approved for International quarantine and trade. Dr. Mennick's special interests include custom-tailored semen extenders, semen freezing, transcervical AI, and the development of practical techniques for embryo transfer in dogs. Any client interested in being part of this new frontier should contact Dr. Mennick directly.
