Veterinarian Overview
Dr. David Gordon received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from UC Davis in 1977. His degree in veterinary medicine took a circuitous route, first starting in California and ending in Italy where he graduated from the University of Perugia in 1983. After completing his internship at Bay Cities Pet Hospital in Torrance, California, Dr. Gordon began his professional career as an associate at AnaBrook Animal Hospital in Anaheim from 1985-1987. From 1987 to the present, Dr.Gordon has been the owner and then medical director of Arroyo Animal Hospital. He has guided its growth from a 1250 square foot strip-mall space on El Toro Road to its current 8000 square foot free-standing building. This hospital was voted 2005 Hospital of the Year. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the California VMA, the San Diego County VMA, the Southern California VMA, the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, the American Association of Veterinary Acupuncture, and the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Gordon has now teamed with Drs. Perry, Halsey, Haley, and Hiller to form the type of veterinary hospital he has always envisioned, emphasizing old fashioned courtesy, care, and value. Dr. Gordon enjoys all facets of small animal veterinary medicine but has developed a special interest in acupuncture, holistic medical therapies (chiropractic, herbal medicine, homeopathy, nutrition), stem cell therapy, and platelet enhancement therapy.In his spare time, Dr.Gordon consults with other veterinarians regarding holistic care, enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, fishing, physical fitness, and music. He and his wife Sharon share their home with their two sons, Daniel and Adam, along with the true King of the Castle, Chauncey, a Yorkshire Terrier whom they rescued after breaking his leg as a young puppy. Dr. Gordon's eldest son, Daniel, is also a veterinarian and is doing a rotating internship in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Gordon's youngest son, Adam, is attending medical school in Wisconsin.
