Veterinarian Overview
I grew up on a little island on the coast of BC, Canada, and developed a love of the ocean, nature and animals. I received a B.A. in Marine Biology from UCSC in 1992, and a Master of Science in Zoology from the University of British Columbia in 1996. I traveled around the world for years and received my veterinary degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2008. I still travel for work and help at many veterinary practices in the Monterey and San Francisco Bays. I love working with Companion Animal Hospital because the staff is so friendly and caring. I think we fit together very well with our practice of medicine and ways of helping animals. I always come back to my love of Santa Cruz, animals and the ocean. I have a cat named Cinnamon that I adopted from Animal Friend's Rescue Project, and we recently moved into my home by the upper yacht harbor. I volunteer with The Marine Mammal Center, where I get to rescue sick and injured seals and sea lions. I help promote environmental health as a marine sanctuary steward with Save Our Shores. Santa Cruz is such great place to live because we care about our pets, the ocean and the environment, and we humans are richer for it!
