Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Amanda Stuart has wanted to become a veterinarian her whole life, and grew up caring for her many pet dogs, cats, horses, and rodents. She worked as a veterinary technician in high school, and then set her sights for UC Davis, with her long-term goal to attend veterinary school there. She obtained her bachelors degree at UC Davis in Animal Biology in 2009, then four years later earned her DVM with the UC Davis Class of 2013. During her time at UC Davis, she participated in several research projects involving canine orthopedic surgery, equine behavior, and kitten GI health, as well as ran the Orphan Kitten Project, a feral kitten rescue and adoption program. As a mixed practice veterinarian, Dr. Stuart sees both horses and small animals. She is particularly interested in both equine and small animal medicine, surgery, and sports medicine. She joined the Donner Truckee team during the summer of 2013, and also performs mobile vet services with local barns. As she grew up skiing at Squaw Valley, and worked several summers as an undergrad on the lake, Dr. Stuart has always been drawn to the Truckee-Tahoe area and is happy to finally call the region home. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, running, rock-climbing, hiking, and riding her horse. She currently has two border collies, a thoroughbred, and a cat.
