Veterinarian Overview
Mary Ellen McLoughlin, DVM, PhD is a New York native. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979 from the College of Mount St. Vincent. She pursued a doctoral degree in Immunobiology at Iowa State University, receiving her Ph.D. in 1982. She stayed in Iowa to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1986. Dr. McLoughlin then returned to the east coast to complete a rotating small animal internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. After her internship, Dr. McLoughlin was a small animal general practitioner on Long Island before joining an emergency and specialty veterinary practice in 2006. Since that time she has practiced emergency medicine exclusively. In 2008, Dr. McLoughlin moved to California where she has been serving the pets of the Ventura and Santa Barbara communities since.
