Veterinarian Overview
When I was a boy I remember my mom and I taking my dog "Shadow", a Newfoundland, to the veterinarian for his annual checkup. I remember being curious about everything the doctor was doing and all that I saw. That same curiosity has stayed with me throughout my career and has kept my love of veterinary medicine strong. I grew up in Westport, CT as the oldest of three children. I graduated from Staples High School and did my undergraduate and graduate studies at Michigan State University. I completed the requirements with honors from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973 and opened my own practice in 1980. Continuing my professional development I became a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry in 1998. I am pleased to be heading our expanded Dentistry practice, and you can read more about these expanded services at mypetdentalcare.com As a Fellow, I enjoy teaching the techniques I have mastered to others through seminars. I am married to Joan McFarland and have two beautiful daughters, Sara and Kate. Joan is a talented singer, songwriter and playwright. We live in Norwalk with our dog, cats, and rabbit. In any free time I may have, I enjoy sailing, traveling and working in the yard.
