Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Julia Outland joined Seiler Animal Hospital in March of 2016. Julia Outland, DVM A native of Murray, Kentucky, Outland attended Murray State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1991. From there, she attended Auburn University where she received her DVM in 1995. Her 10-week preceptorship was fulfilled in Knoxville, Tennessee where she ended up staying and practicing small animal general medicine and surgery for 16 years. Over the years, she has participated in helping many low cost spay and neuter facilities reach goals in maintaining grants based on surgeries performed. After leaving Knoxville, Tennessee in 2011, she relocated to St. John, US Virgin Islands where she practiced for the next 3 1/2 years. Outland states it was an experience she would never forget, but one she looks back on and says she doesnt know how she did it. The territory demanded that she retake her National Board Exam after graduating 17 years earlier, and her first 3 months on island were spent devoted to studying. In 2014, she finally got rock fever and relocated to Delray Beach mainly because of the similar climate. Outland brought with her what she considers two treasures from the island, Gilligan and Thurston. Gilligan was found in an abandoned boat on Christmas eve on Tortola, BVI at about 8 weeks old. The good samaritans who found him could not take him back to Utah as hoped, so she adopted him. A few months latter, a beautiful shepherd mix from the St. Thomas shelter came in with violent seizures that the owner would not be able to manage. He needed to be Gilligans buddy and so was born Thurston. Today they all three live the Florida life. Dr. Outlands special interests are Dermatology and Geriatric Medicine
