Dr. Amsberry was born the 7th of 8 boys, raised in the midst of the farms in the Willamette Valley of western Oregon. From the age of 12 until he graduated from veterinary school, he worked as a residential house painter. Dr. Amsberry attended Franciscan University in Steubenville Ohio earning a BA in Biology/Chemistry in 1986 and Oregon State College of Veterinary Medicine for his DVM in 1990. Every year he attends at least 40 hours of continuing education to hone his skills and maintain the cutting edge approach in his practice. Dr. Amsberry has developed special interests in the Human-Pet bond, preventative care, internal medicine, Dermatology, Geriatrics, Dentistry, Orthopedics, laser surgery and most recently, alternative care such as laser, and nutrition hoping to limit the use of drugs in his patients. He founded a small animal practice in his home town in 1995. Dr. Amsberry and his wife Jenny, sold their practice in the summer of 2008 and moved with their two children to Tarpon Springs to be close to Jennys family and took the position as Hospital Administrator at a multi-doctor hospital in central Florida. They purchased this facility in the spring of 2010 and named it after one of Dr. Amsberrys biggest heroes, St. Francis Pet Care Center. They love it here and especially enjoy the East Lake area. He is a devoted husband and father. For down time, he enjoys church life, exercising, boating and fishing, the beach, mountain biking, warm bread, garlic and a glass of good red wine. Currently, their family pet members include a mother and son set of Yorkies, Truffles and Fudge and two local rescued cats named Suri and Belle.
