Veterinarian Overview

Dr. Mark Petersmann, or “Dr. Mark”, was born and raised near Cincinnati, Ohio. Growing up, Mark shared his house with his one older sister, and a house full of dogs as his parents raised Doberman Pinschers for many years. Growing up in a rural area, these dogs became his best friends, leading to an early appreciation, respect, and love for animals. After graduating high school, Mark attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio studying zoology. After two years, Mark made the difficult decision to transfer to Purdue University and study biology. After two more years of college at Purdue, Mark applied, and was accepted to Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. After four grueling years of diligent studying, Mark emerged from veterinary school, obtained his licenses, and started practicing veterinary medicine in Indianapolis. After two years of general practice, Mark decided to pursue his passion of emergency and critical care medicine by joining the VCA West 86th St. Animal Hospital team in March 2013. Since that time his skills have grown working with the wonderful staff of veterinarians, technicians, and staff. He now enjoys a schedule that allows him to practice preventative care, while still allowing him the opportunity to triage and work with emergency medicine and critical care. Mark also volunteers his skills to help the animals at Indianapolis Animal Care and Control and fosters critical patients for Every Dog Counts Rescue. Mark shares his home with two dogs, Daisy and Kimber, and a cat, Gatsby. In his spare time, Dr. Petersmann enjoys practicing his marksmanship abilities, photography, as well as cooking.

Hi Mark I want to say again that I am so very sorry that Dave passed away. I had just seen him a couple of weeks before we and had made plans to cut firewood. I only saw him a couple of times a year but we always fell into long conversations as though we were old friends. The woods seemed different this deer season. My wife passed away a couple of years ago so I'm aware first hand that this can be a delicate subject. I just wanted to mention that if you are going to be selling equipment or property in the future I would appreciate it if you would keep me in mind. There may be some things I can use and it may make things a bit easier for you. I've only met your mom one time and I don't even know that she would remember me. I don't want to go over there and startle her if she's alone. I just wanted to mention it and hope that it's not offensive to you. If there is anything at all that your mom needs help with over there please let me know as well. I'd be more than happy to help out in any way. Feel free to email me or my cell is 812 584 3527. I know that this will be a difficult Christmas but I hope you find solace and joy in each other. Take care. Len
