Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Cheri Hansen opened Crescent City Vet in 2003 with her friend and business partner, Dr. Ned Henry. Dr. Hansen is originally from the Chicago area and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Tired of snow and cold weather, she moved south to attend veterinary school at the University of Florida-Gainesville, where she received training in companion animal medicine and surgery, as well as exotic animal and zoo animal medicine. The fun of exotic animal medicine was eventually eclipsed by Dr. Hansen's desire to work with family pets. "Dogs and cats are deeply connected to humans in a way wild animals will never be," she says. "I love the synergy of people and their pets. We all make each other's lives so much better." It's no wonder her special interests include internal medicine, anesthesia, and pain management. "I love the problem-solving nature of internal medicine and, above all, I want to keep my patients comfortable and free of pain."Away from the hospital, Dr. Hansen enjoys family life with her husband Charles, her daughter Bryn and son Tom. They have a long history of adopted pets, including dogs and cats, as well as rats, opossums, frogs, fish, and whatever else wanders its way into their home. Her hobbies include biking, running and martial arts training
