Veterinarian Overview
High School. As a youth, he was always collecting injured or orphaned birds, rabbits and squirrels and did his best to nurse them back to health! He followed his passion for animals and decided to embark on the difficult task of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Mueller graduated with Honors in Animal Science from the University of Maryland in 1975 and he was one of twelve students from the entire State of Maryland to be accepted into veterinary school that fall. He attended the University of Georgia and graduated with Honors in 1979, having won several honors for academic and clinical achievement. In January of 1980, at age 26, he established the Hampden Lane Veterinary Office, which he and his wife, Astrid operated for over 33 years. Over the years, Dr. Mueller has been bestowed with numerous awards and commendations from the Seeing Eye Dog Foundation, the Humane Society, various animal rescue groups and he has logged countless hours in helping these organizations with their worth-while pursuits. In addition, Dr. Mueller has hosted many veterinary medical school students' externships, has been a sought after speaker at local schools and colleges, held various executive positions in local veterinary community groups and has consistently been rated highest in quality and value by Checkbook magazine for many, many years. Dr. Mueller married his beautiful client, Astrid Vent in 1982! They have a daughter, a son, a son-in-law and two lovable "grand dogs"! Currently Astrid and Rob live with two beloved, old cats Callie and Biggie, but over the years the Mueller house has had cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters and AstridÂ’s aquarium and fish pond! "Although I have always enjoyed all aspects of a small animal clinic, I must admit my most treasured moments of the day are during my exam room hours. Having one on one time with my clients during the physical exam gives me the opportunity to fully explain their pet's current condition and answer any questions they may have about their pet's health, behaviors or nutritional issues. Most importantly, I work with my fellow pet lovers in planning a practical and rational diagnostic and treatment regimen when their best friends have an illness or injury. I am thrilled to now be a part of the Bradley Hills Animal Hospital team! It is an exemplary hospital and has a loving and committed staff. Along with them, I look forward to years of continued service to you and your pets
