Veterinarian Overview
I was born in south Texas in 1949 where all my relatives still live. My family moved to Gladstone in 1953. I attended Oak Park High School followed by 6 years at the University of Missouri in Columbia. After graduating from veterinary school in 1974 I returned to Kansas City to practice at Claycomo Animal Hospital, where I had worked since I was 15 years old. After several years at Claycomo I pursued my dream of having my own business by moving to Liberty in March 1978.I have a fairly conservative practice philosophy recognizing that animal's bodies were designed to heal themselves and that all medications have some side effects. My job is to relieve pain and speed healing with as little risk of adverse reactions as possible. Therefore, most of my patients are not subjected to a diagnostic test for every symptom.I have been active in my profession for many years, having served on the Board of Directors of the KCVMA, including being the president in 1987. I served on and chaired committees for the MVMA and on various local service and charity organizations and am currently serving on the board of directors for Hillcrest Ministries. My wife, Ann, and I enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren. Fishing, golfing and wildlife rehab are among my many interests. I am also one of 2 veterinarians in Clay County licensed for both State and Federal Agencies to treat and rehab wildlife, including protected and endangered species.
