Veterinarian Overview
Originally from Stuart, Florida, Dr. Jeff Smith worked for his fathers construction and cattle companies. From a very early age, he had a special connection with all animals
dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, birds, and even reptiles. As a child, he would bring home sick animals that needed nursed back to health. Once out of high school, he felt God leading him to Mississippi to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. To pay for college, each summer, he fished commercially for salmon on an Alaskan fishing boat off the coast of Cordova, Alaska.Dr. Jeff Smith graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and immediately began working at our clinic, then Eaves Animal Hospital. In June of 2010, Dr. Smith bought Eaves Animal Hospital from the Eaves family and renamed it Smith Animal Hospital. Dr. Smith strives for excellence in making Smith Animal Hospital a current and relevant veterinary hospital for all of his patients and their owners. He understands that all needs are different and seeks to meet each individual patients specific need.Dr. Smith is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. His passion is serving people and their pets. Currently, Dr. Smith and his wife, Macki, live in Starkville with their daughters Mackinzie and Adelyn
and their many animals. They are active members of CrossPoint Baptist Church. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and building.
