Veterinarian Overview
All the chores, exposure to crazy weather, and round-the-clock care of cows that Dr. Jeff Dickerson experienced while growing up on a farm in Illinois prepared him well for a career in veterinary medicine. After completing his bachelors degree at Montana State University in Bozeman, he graduated from Colorado State University with his doctorate in 1988. Dr. Dickerson moved to Livingston in 1993, the same year he bought Livingston Veterinary Hospital. And he hasnt looked back since. Dr. Dickerson says, The challenge of veterinary medicine should it be for an individual animal or a large herd having problems continues to drive my interest in pursuing the best solutions available. The rapid growth of medical knowledge and technology is amazing, and it provides us with new ways to diagnose and treat problems daily. This constant challenge to provide owners and patients with the best of care gives me great satisfaction, and makes my commitment to veterinary medicine very rewarding. Dr. Dickerson lives in Livingston with his wife Gayla and teenage sons Asa and Callum. They are actively involved in community activities, including Big Brothers Big Sisters and Livingston Youth Soccer. When Dr. Dickerson isnt working at his day job (Livingston Veterinary Hospital), he might be found pulling an overnight shift at Pet Emergency Treatment Services, also known as PETS, a cooperatively-owned emergency veterinary hospital in Bozeman that serves Park, Gallatin, and Madison counties. By day, you might see Dr. Dickerson coaching soccer games, hitting the slopes of Bridger Bowl, hiking in the mountains, or tending to his impeccable gardens (his urban farm) at home.
