Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Laura Gaylord, DVM, graduated from North Carolina State University College o
f Veterinary Medicine in 1996. While in school, she was inducted into the Phi Zeta Honor Society (top 5% of her class) and received awards for proficiency in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Radiology. Since graduation, Dr. Laura has practiced in North Carolina for 18 years, including the management of a wellness and rehabilitation practice for the last several years. Her passions include internal medicine, preventative and wellness care, geriatric medicine, and especially nutrition including both conventional and alternative diets. Currently, Dr. Laura is enrolled in a residency in Small Animal Clinical Nutrition at the College of Veterinary Medicine where she manages the nutritional needs of cases in the Intensive Care Unit. She formulates feeding plans for complex medical and surgical cases and creates homemade diets for patients across the country. She has also achieved a graduate certificate in Veterinary Homeland Security from Purdue University, and served as President of Friends of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, an organization focused on charitable giving for the NCVMA. Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Gaylord has lived in North Carolina since 1985. She lives in Fuquay Varina with Daniel, her husband of 22 years, and with their two daughters, Hannah (7) and Amelia (4). Their four-legged family members include Ember, their black Labrador Retriever, and Spice, their calico-tabby cat. Dr. Gaylords hobbies include home-cooking (of course!), running, watercolor painting, and bluegrass music.
