Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Parisio Wood grew up in the Hudson Valley region of New York State. After graduating from Alfred University with a bachelors degree in biology and a minor in equine studies, Dr. Parisio Wood spent the following year working as a full time assistant for a busy equine practice. She was then accepted into the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London, England where she would receive her veterinary medical degree. In her first year in practice, Dr. Parisio Wood completed the internship program at Rhinebeck Equine LLP in New York. The opportunity to participate in a second internship the following year at The New Jersey Equine Clinic in Millstone Township, gave her additional experience working in sport horse medicine and surgical care. Dr. Parisio Wood joined Colts Head Veterinary Services in 2009. During her time here, she has maintained a strong interest in preventative care, lameness and diagnostics. In recent years, she has developed a special interest in the field of equine podiatry, working alongside farriers to diagnose and treat various diseases of the foot. In addition, Dr. Parisio Wood has developed the nutrition consultation service at Colts Head Veterinary Services, facilitating hay/forage sampling and analysis. A member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Parisio Wood also belongs to the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association. In her spare time, Dr. Parisio Wood loves to be outdoors, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She is married and has two cats, Lucy and Ethel.
