Veterinarian Overview

Dr. Alex Klein grew up in Great Neck, New York with animal-loving parents. As a child, he was a puppy walker for Seeing Eyes for the Blind and endured the continual cycle of attaching to and separating from deliciously adorable Lab puppies. He served as a volunteer EMT/fireman during his high school and college years and always had an interest in medicine, but was also attracted to technology. He graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in 1995. After a dozen years in the fast-paced corporate world, Alex decided to face the daunting and exciting challenge of transforming his career. He attended CCNY at night in order to complete post-baccalaureate coursework and worked on an upstate farm, ultimately leading to his acceptance into Cornell University Veterinary School. Alex has since worked in private practice and animal rescue/shelter facilities, most recently as a staff surgeon and veterinary associate at North Shore Animal League. Alex lives in Windsor Terrace with his wife Lisa, his son Noam and their three cats.

If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible communication and service from this office and from Dr. Klein specifically. I scheduled my cat as a new patient for a general exam and a dental exam, as my cat had lost a tooth. I sent all information and records in well ahead of time, as requested, and noted everywhere possible that my cat has a history of aggression at the vet so that they would be prepared. When I got there on the day of the appointment, Dr. Klein came out to tell me, while eating his banana (masks are required for clients btw), that the dental vet was not in today, that I should have known not to feed my cat breakfast in order for him to be sedated and that there wasn't really any way to examine him today. He went on to say that even after that there would need to be a separate dental appointment where they would have to be given full rights to do whatever they deemed necessary because they couldn't be waiting on hold while I "dropped my phone in the toilet." Just a truly absurd and disrespectful experience. He said everything he could without outright telling me that they wouldn't to see my cat, but basically refused me service and wasted my day and stressed out my cat for nothing.
