Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Samantha Gonzalez joined St. Marks Veterinary Hospital in July 2019. She graduated cum laude from Villanova University with a bachelor's degree in biology. During her undergraduate studies she assisted in research of poison dart frogs through Duke University in SarapiquÃ, Costa Rica. She also spent time volunteering at the New Bolton Center (University of Pennsylvania) and working as an intern at the Philadelphia Zoo. After graduation she worked as a veterinary assistant in a small animal and exotics practice in Ridgewood, New Jersey prior to applying to veterinary school. Dr. Gonzalez received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Massachusetts. At Tufts, she was involved in the integrative medicine club, as well as the diagnostic imaging and surgery clubs. After graduation, she completed a rigorous rotating medical and surgical internship at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in New York City. In this position, she managed emergency cases as well as cases seen by specialty services. Her professional interests include ultrasound imaging, emergency care and geriatric care. Outside of work, Dr. Gonzalez enjoys spending time with her husband and their two pets: a terrier mix (Mollie) and a Russian tortoise (Terrance). She also enjoys practicing yoga, traveling, and trying new restaurants
