Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Carr is originally from Nashville, Tennessee. She received her bachelorÂ’s degree in Medieval Studies from the University of Chicago, and spent almost ten years living and working in Chicago as a veterinary technician and in the non-profit sector. She graduated with honors from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, then completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She then moved to Portland with her husband, her three cats, Lily, Death Star, and Stella, and her shelter mutt, Smidge, to start her general practice career at VCA Laurelhurst.Dr. CarrÂ’s practice philosophy emphasizes compassionate client education and progressive, evidence-based medicine. She loves arming her clients with the knowledge and skills to make the best decisions for their pets, and strives to keep the sometimes overwhelming process of vet visits as transparent as possible. Her special clinical interests include nutrition/weight management, geriatric medicine, and cardiology. When not at work, Dr. Carr enjoys keeping up with medical journals and reading historical non-fiction, dabbling in various arts and crafts, and exploring her new (and already beloved) home town.
