Veterinarian Overview

Dr. Cutler was born and raised in Charleston. He spent most of his childhood outdoors enjoying all that the Lowcountry has to offer. His interest and experience with local wildlife is what ultimately encouraged him to pursue veterinary medicine. After graduating from Davidson College in 2004 with a BA in History, he was accepted to the Veterinary School at Massey University in New Zealand. While at Massey, Dr. Cutler focused on companion animal medicine but also gained significant experience working with sheep, dairy and beef cattle, goats, horses, and deer. Some highlights of his time there include a three week externship with the Kenyan Wildlife Service in February 2009 and a week long spay/neuter mission to Samoa in August 2010. Dr. Cutler reluctantly left beautiful New Zealand after graduating in January 2011 to return home to Charleston. Dr. Cutler joined All Creatures as an intern in April 2011 and has been working here full time since June. On his days off he can usually be found with his black lab, Sam, at Edisto.

I watched my niece go through a heartbreaking time when her elderly dog had an acute downturn. She had previously talked with Dr. Cutler about office appointments regarding euthanasia, and was assured that when her dog's end of life time came, she could be seen that same day. Being a dog-person myself, I know how important it is to have a supportive vet at this incredibly sad time. Unfortunately, when this day arrived my niece was told by the office manager that the next euthanasia appointment was two and a half days later. When she expressed dismay, the office manager rudely told her to go to an emergency vet clinic and then hung up on her. I was shocked to see that instead of being treated with respect and kindness, my niece was rudely dismissed by the Dr. Culter and the office manager. Who would treat a client like this???
