Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Mabe grew up in Houston and has loved animals since she was a little girl. She always had dogs and cats when she was growing up, and she visited her grandparents farm and helped out with their cattle on the weekends. So, this love of animals, combined with a love of science and biology steered her towards her career in veterinary medicine. She graduated from North Shore High School and went on to college at Baylor University. She earned a degree in Spanish. After graduation, she worked in a veterinary clinic in Houston as a veterinary technician, kennel assistant, and receptionist. While there, she was offered a chance to use her Spanish degree and accepted a job teaching 2nd grade bilingual education at North Shore Elementary School. While teaching she attended night school at University of Houston Clear Lake and earned a degree in biology. This is where she met her husband Chris. During her year of teaching, she applied and was accepted to veterinary school at Texas A&M University. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2002. Dr. Mabe has been married to her husband Chris since 1998, and they have two wonderful children Sara(12) and Alexander(9). She has a 14 year old cat named Leo, and a 4 year old long-haired dachshund named Sophie. I am sure you will see pictures of Sophie soon. She loves to dress up for Halloween! Dr. Mabe likes to travel, spend time with family and friends, read, and watch Sara and Alex play the sports they love. She is an active member of Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood.
