Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Joshi is a native of northern Virginia, and began her animal-care journey in the D.C. Metro area by volunteering at various shelters and rescue organizations. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, spending a semester studying green sea turtles and helping with gray whale conservation in a small fishing town in Mexico, before heading to the Caribbean to obtain her Doctorate at Ross Universitys School of Veterinary Medicine in the West Indies. Dr. Joshi completed her clinical year at the University of Floridas College of Veterinary Medicine, and has also worked with the Dolphin Research Center, conducted research in Perus wild rainforests, and tended to creatures large and small at the National Zoo. Prior to attending Ross University, Dr. Joshi worked here at Ridge Lake Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant and Inventory Manager. Dr. Kusterbeck served as her mentor during the preparation and application process for veterinary school, and was happy to offer Dr. Joshi a job once shed finished her schooling. Dr. Joshi is thrilled to be a part of the team once again! Medically, shes fond of parasitology and infectious-disease treatment, as well as exotic-animal medicine. Most of all, she loves being a firsthand witness to the incredible bonds shared between the areas pets and animal parents. When she isnt helping pets here at the hospital or spending time with her own dog, Sophie, Dr. Joshi enjoys playing volleyball and tennis, snowboarding in the wintertime, and practicing her skills in studio arts like painting, drawing, and pottery making. She even makes and sells hand-painted jewelry out of recycled rabies tags, and donates a portion of the proceeds to the Global Alliance for Rabies Control!
