Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Sofia Morales, born in Michigan, has Spanish and Cuban roots. She is a board certified internist who graduated with honors in 2001 from Purdue University Veterinary School of Medicine. She then completed a 1 year general rotating internship immediately followed by a 3 year residency in internal medicine at University of Minnesota where she stayed on as an adjunct clinical professor for another year. She gained diplomate status of the College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2007. After her academic career, Dr. Morales served the South Florida community for almost 10 years in the field of internal medicine.Dr. Morales has special interests in the field of infectious diseases, auto-immune illnesses, nephrology, as well as in chronic inflammatory hepatic and intestinal illnesses. Her main focus remains on client and technician/nurse education. She firmly believes the pet owner and nursing staff are essential parts of any treatment plan and its success. Dr. Morales also knows that the referring veterinarian is a key element to providing a pet with the best care.Dr. Morales, her husband, her child as well as her 2 dogs have relocated to Tallahassee to join and support the community. During their free time, the family enjoys the pleasures of just being together. The couple loves traveling back home (Canary Islands in Spain), skiing, fishing, and cooking a good paella.
