Veterinarian Overview
Van P. Steed was born into a farming, ranching family in Texas and was raised with a love of animals. His family has farmed and ranched in the Texas Panhandle since 1896, so his familiarity with and love for animals came naturally and inspired him to choose veterinary medicine as his life's profession. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, and received another B.S. in Veterinary Science in 1980. Van is a 1981 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Steed started caring for animals in a mixed animal practice, including cattle herd health, and Quarter Horse veterinary services. His areas of special interest include dermatology, general surgery including orthopedic procedures, dentistry, exotic animal care, nutrition, internal medicine and immunotherapy for vital infections. Dr. Steed enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife Gina. He has two sons, a daughter, one step-son, three dogs, and one cat. He also spends his spare time flying private aircraft.
