Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Ruth Dunning, but perhaps her first love. Although she has volunteered for animals shelters her entire life, a chance meeting in 1999, just as she was graduating from college, left a lasting impression. She did not immediately go into veterinary medicine, instead finding a career in advertising sales. She eventually returned to school at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Her veterinary activities and awards, include a Phi Zeta Student Leadership award, Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association Student Advocate of the Year 2011, awarded to one student who has promoted humane and respectful treatment of animals, an AVMF national scholarship awarded to 20 veterinary students who strive to embrace and advance the well being and medical care of animals", and a Maddies Fund scholarship. Dr. Dunning is a member of the California Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She has a special interest in dermatology, neurology, immune mediated diseases, infectious diseases and geriatric medicine.
Dr. Dunning is a shelter advocate and her pets come to her through rescue organizations. She currently has a mix breed dog named Dylan, and 3 cats: Isabel, who defies her age of 16 and is constantly causing mischief, Fannie who was found as a kitten under the fan belt of a truck, and Momo, an epileptic kitty She inherited from a client-:) The Animal Care Clinic is a wonderful clinic to practice in, and I am so glad to be part of the ACC medical team
