Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Crystal Van Lom graduated Veterinary school from Texas A&M University in 2001. Originally from Rhode Island, Dr. Van Lom grew up on a horse farm in Texas where she learned to ride before she could walk. Pursuing her passion for ALL animals is what led her to a career as a veterinarian. After Dr. Van Lom graduated in 2001 she started focusing her career as a small animal emergency & critical care doctor in Texas. In 2003 she discovered another passion: San Diego, CA! Dr. Van Lom was so dedicated to the emergency referral center in Texas that she decided to continue her work there and start commuting between Texas and California. After 13 years of emergency medicine(& 10 years of commuting), Dr Van Lom decided it was time to move to San Diego full time. Starting a private practice had always been a dream and in 2013 that dream became reality when Amici Pet Hospital of Little Italy was born. Now Dr. Van Lom is thrilled to be in the coolest part of San Diego, Little Italy, where she pursues her interests in Small Animal medicine and surgery with special interests in urgent care, chronic pain management and hospice care for our aging population of pets. Dr. Van Lom says, The best part about being a vet is being a general practitioner where you can grow with, guide, and get to know your clients. Professionally & personally the rewards are enormous as I get to grow and become a family with my clients who trust & care about me as much as I trust & care about them. When Dr. Van Lom is not working with animals she can be found pursuing her passion for travel. SCUBA diving, snowboarding, wine tasting, (bad)golf, photography, fantasy football and doing yoga take up her free time. She lives at the beach with her dog, Simone, who is also an astute traveler.
