Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Alex Herman, BS, DVM, earned a BS in Biology and Drawing from the University of Minnesota in 1992, and DVM from UC Davis in 1997. She started at All Pets Hospital in 1997, adding the nondomestic/exotic surgery and medicine service to what was a dog and cat only practice at that time. Dr Herman has special interests in dentistry, internal medicine, and surgery for all species. She is an active member of the California Veterinary Medicine Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, San Francisco Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Avian Veterinarians, and Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians. She is also a graduate of the American Animal Hospital Associations Veterinary Management Institute. In addition to her work at All Pets she has provided relief services for the Oakland Zoo for the last ten years, and consults The Aquarium of the Bay on their North American River Otters.Off work she is usually training for or recovering from running a half marathon, gardening, traveling, or just enjoying life with her husband Ed and son Joe. She also volunteers in Berkeley public schools, tutoring and reading to elementary students.
