Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Deborah Thomson was born and raised in New England. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Music Degree with Honors in Flute Performance from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. After teaching at a middle school in Quebec City, she entered Tufts Veterinary School in Massachusetts and graduated with a DVM Degree and a Certificate of International Veterinary Medicine. During veterinary school, research grants afforded opportunities to work and travel in Nepal and Tanzania. After an intensive internship at the Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group in Ventura, Dr. Thomson moved to San Francisco. Her professional passions include ophthalmology, dentistry, preventative care, performing surgeries, and promoting One Health (the collaboration of animal, human and environmental health professionals). She enjoys speaking to students at local middle and high schools about veterinary medicine and One Health. She has taught U.C. Davis Veterinary students during community outreach programs, volunteered with Foothill College's Veterinary technical programs as well as caring for pets of homeless people of San Francisco. Personal interests include learning languages (fluent in French and learning Spanish), traveling, participating in Toastmasters and enjoying the cultural life of San Francisco.
