Veterinarian Overview
I have been enjoying the practice of veterinary medicine for 37 years and have been in my own business for 33 of those. I started my business in September 1977 by doing veterinary house calls in San Francisco. The beginning years were very interesting and many of those original clients are still friends and clients today. Id love to write a book, much like the James Herriot novels, of those early days of my business. It has been a lot of work, but today I find the practice of veterinary medicine more enjoyable and fulfilling than at any time in my career.My work is fun, challenging, and extremely interesting. There is something different and new every day and even the usual things we deal with are always new because each patient and client adds so much to our day. It gives us great joy to meet and play with all the new puppies and kittens that come into our office daily, as well as some of the geriatric patients who are still going strong at 22 years of age. Even the sad cases, when we must help a family say goodbye to their loved one, are close to my heart, for I remember how I felt with my own beloved cats, Tyke, Kao, and Kent, and my dear dog named Spooky.I am a single gay man who, since I became the sole owner of Presidio Way Hospital in 2008, is married to the business I love so much. It takes many long hours but the rewards help keep me young. In my spare time I enjoy exercising, going to the gym, and mountain biking, since I have Mt. Tamalpais in my back yard. I love gourmet food and fine dining, as well as travel, and recently took a wonderful trip to Spain. Getting more adept on my Mac and the gadgets that help keep me organized, entertained, and connected with the world fascinates me. After adding up all the rewards of a job well done, life just cannot get any better.
