Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Ashley Atkin joins Bollinger Canyon Animal Hospital after serving the Pleasanton area for 3 ½ years. Dr. Atkin was born and raised in San Francisco. She grew up with two Maine Coon cats, Tigger & Meliou. She explored her love of animals and veterinary medicine volunteering at the Marin Humane Society. She received her B.S. in Animal Science in 2005 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis in 2010. In veterinary school she was a vice president of her graduating class and was very involved in many volunteer programs including the Pet Loss Support Hotline, multiple spay & neuter programs, and shelter dog training projects. She went on to complete her internship at PetCare a 24 hour emergency, specialty, and wellness hospital in Santa Rosa. Her veterinary interests include internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, patient care, and client education. She enjoys interacting with her clients and making sure her patients feel comfortable. She also believes client communication is an integral part of a successful treatment plan for her patients. She and her husband share their home in Walnut Creek with their dachshund mix, Harley, and their cat, Bongo. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, wine tasting, skiing, and traveling.
