Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Rachel Powell earned her veterinary degree from the University of Illinois in 2002. After four years in mixed animal practice in Robinson and Springfield, IL, she decided to focus exclusively on horses, first in an exclusively mobile practice and then as owner of Heartland Equine Health Center. Her areas of interest include sports medicine, dentistry, surgery, and racetrack practice.Dr. Powell shares a small farm in Springfield with her husband Doug, whom she married in 2016. She competes in Dressage and Endurance Riding with her horses. In her spare time, she also enjoys practicing Ashtanga Yoga and long walks with her dogs all pound puppies.
