Veterinarian Overview
Angie grew up in Southern Illinois, south of Carbondale and had always wanted to be veterinarian while growing up. The oldest of four girls, she started working for a local vet at age 15 cleaning kennels, etc.--a job that her mom thought would "cure" her of the whole vet notion, but the rest, as they say is history! She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1989, where she met her future husband, the wonderful Russell Kinzinger. After practicing for a year in a mixed animal practice in Flora, IL and two years at a mixed practice in Nashville, IL, she and Russell opened AnRus Veterinary Clinic in Freeburg. As the family grew, Angie went to more part time practice, eventually stepping down from the clinic for a season to home school their children in 2003. She currently keeps the books for the clinic, consults on cases for Russell, does the occasional surgery and is greatly expanding her medical training and expertise on the human side as she cares for five sons with various significant medical special needs. As they get older, she hopes to join Russell more at the clinic, but for now, life is full!
