Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Watters began working at Knox Pet Clinic in June of 1969 after his discharge from the United States Army where he served as a Veterinary Corps Officer. Dr. Watters obtained his BS in Agriculture, BS in Veterinary Science and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign. Dr. Watters has been married for 52 years to his wife Jeanne, R.N., who is retired from a career of pediatric nursing and home care agency administration. Dr. and Mrs. Watters have 4 children (3 girls and 1 boy), their vocations include high school world history teacher, high school Spanish language teacher, program director for church retreat center and camp, and national security intelligence officer. They also have 9 grandchildren (4 girls and 5 boys). In his free time, Dr. Watters enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and friends, working on Rotary projects, conservation projects, farm work, traveling and gardening. Dr. and Mrs. Watters have hosted 18 Rotary exchange students for periods of 3 weeks to one year (mostly for 3-4 months). They have invitations to Europe, South America, and Africa to visit students who are now adults with families of their own. Dr. Watters is currently the Responsible Officer for Central States Rotary Youth Exchange Program, working as a volunteer with the U.S. Department of State facilitating visas and safety issues for over 200 foreign teen students each completing a year of high school study in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota or Ontario, Canada. Dr. Watters is a life member of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association
