Veterinarian Overview
I've had an interest in animals since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Growing up on a farm in Russell County, KS there was plenty of exposure to animals both large and small. From raising 4-H livestock and caring for the family pets to working with embryo transfer in cattle while in college at Fort Hays State University, my experience has been broad. During veterinary school at Kansas State University, my interests turned to surgery, primarily in small animals. I have worked in the small animal field since graduating in 1987 and started Countryside Pet Clinic in Andover in 1993. In 1996 we moved to our current clinic and in 2002 we opened our Pet Resort. The Resort allows us more room and a quieter environment in the clinic, which is better for our patients and staff. Surgery remains one of my main veterinary interests, along with dentistry, pain management and physical therapy. My wife, Marilyn, and I have 3 children, 2 dogs, and a cat. I enjoy watching the family in their various sporting events; working out, snow skiing, going back to the farm, helping out the science classes at school, and just keeping busy Present and past memberships include the Wichita, Kansas and American Veterinary Medical Associations, American Animal Hospital Association, and the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. I have also been on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Wichita and the Kansas State University Pet Trust program.
