Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Khare was born in India. He obtained his degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Agra, India, the site of the famed Taj Mahal memorial. There, as a member of the class of 1968, he was a recipient of five gold medals for scholastic achievement. He taught veterinary medicine at the university. Dr Khare came to Rutgers University in 1970 where he obtained a masters degree and a doctoral degree in animal science, specializing in microbiology, and taught laboratory science for four years. He has also worked in the field of research, serving variously as head of an immunology laboratory, director of a research laboratory, and research virologist for the New Jersey State Department of Health, Sterwin Drugs and Princeton Labs. In the U.S.A., he completed an internship of two years and one year of an evaluative internship in Veterinary Medicine. Also, in addition to the above, he completed more than one year of courses in veterinary medicine at several institutions including the University of Pennsylvania and the Animal Medical Center, N.Y. He had to pass five board exams at the national and state levels to qualify for his licenses to become practicing veterinarian in the state of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. As a veterinarian, he has worked at Hopewell Veterinary Hospital, Wood V.H., Trenton, and, Shore Emergency V.H. Lakewood before starting his own practice in Somerset as “House Calls for Small Animals” in July of 1979. In September of 1980, he established the Highland Park Animal Clinic at its current location.
