Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Katy Sullivan grew up in Northern California and Monmouth County, New Jersey, where a love of animals, especially horses started at a young age. At the age of five Dr. Sullivan declared that she wanted to be a vet. She attended a health science-based high school that offered her first opportunity to shadow a veterinarian. Dr. Sullivan received a degree in biology from Providence College in 2011 and went on to the University of Pennsylvania for veterinary school. While at Penn Vet, Dr. Sullivan explored the various paths that veterinary medicine has to offer: from spay-neuter work on the Galápagos Islands to sleep research in swine to mixed-animal practice in Amish country. In the end, Dr. Sullivan found that equine medicine was her passion. After graduating in 2015, she participated in a rotating internship at Woodside Equine Clinic in Virginia. Dr. Sullivan's professional interests include emergency medicine, lameness, reproduction and dentistry. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, traveling, the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
