Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Clement grew up on a small farm in western Massachusetts where he gained his love of animals, both large and small. After high school, he attended the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelors of Animal Science. Dr. Clement was accepted to the New York College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University and graduated in 1989. After graduation Dr. Clement worked in a busy, two doctor mixed animal practice in Auburn, NY. In August 1991 he joined Burnt Hills Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Clement enjoys both medicine and surgery. He is certified by the University of Pennsylvania to perform PennHip evaluations for Canine Hip Dysplasia. He also does chiropractic adjustments for various conditions of the spine. In addition to abdominal and orthopedic surgery, Dr. Clement performs basic cardiac and abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy. In 2008, Dr. Clement was accredited by Vet-Stem to treat arthritis, ligament injuries and non-healing fractures using adult stem cells. To date he has treated over 100 patients. In May 2011, Dr. Clement presented a paper at the 2nd Annual North American Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Association Conference and also spoke on stem cell therapy at the Illinois Veterinary Medical Association Conference. In addition to stem cell therapy he also uses Platelet Rich Plasma and Pulsewave therapy. He has recently participated in a preliminary FDA multi-hospital study with Vet-Stem Biopharma evaluating allogenic stem cells use for osteoarthritis. Dr. Clement lives in Cohoes with his wife, 2 children, cats, a dog and four fish. He enjoys hiking, photography and spending time with family in the Adirondacks.
