Veterinarian Overview
Mary Vitale, Receptionist Amy Ostreich, D.V.M. Sherri was born and raised on Long Island. While growing up Sherri has been interested in veterinary medicine and while when she was younger she would take care of the strays around her neighborhood. Sherri graduated from Connetquot High School in 2012 and graduated from the Animal Science program in Eastern Suffolk Boces in 2011. She had started working at the Animal Shelter helping in the Cattery. Sherri became a part of the Hawkins Animal Hospital and Wellness Center in June of 2011. She has a love for all shapes and sizes of animals, from furry to scaly; even some with 8 legs. Sherri hopes to someday work with wildlife and exotic pets, as well working to preserve some of life's beautiful creatures. Sherris furry family includes cats, ferrets, and her frog. In her spare time she likes to relax and cuddle with her animals or she can be found drawing outside drawing. Sam was born and raised on Long Island. She graduated from Miller Place High School in 2010. She graduated from the LVT program in 2013 at Suffolk County Community College shortly after becoming licensed. Sam has been working as a Veterinary Technician for 2 years at this location. Her favorite thing to do is horseback ride. Sam's favorite animals are horses and cats. She has 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 2 mice, 2 rabbits and fish that she loves dearly! Dr. Bethany Howe received her bachelor of science in zoology in 1998 from the University of Rhode Island, and graduated from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She completed a small animal internal medicine and surgery internship and partial residency in Westbury, NY from 2005-2007. She then worked as an associate emergency doctor in West Islip for four years., before transitioning to small animal practice over the past 4 years. She opened the Hawkins Animal Hospital and Wellness Center in August 2014. Her interests include internal and emergency triage medicine. She is also very interested in holistic medicine and is incorporating aromatherapy into her practice of traditional western medicine, and is a level 2 Reiki practitioner and seraphim blueprint practitioner. Dr. Howe makes her home on the south shore of Long Island, NY with her husband, son, and two cats.
