Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Cooley received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell Universitys College of Veterinary Medicine. He has also earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, an Associate of Science in Linguistics and an Associate of Science degree in Paramedicine. During his undergraduate studies and prior to his veterinary career, Dr. Cooley worked as a critical care paramedic and firefighter. He is also fluent in Spanish, as he has lived in both Europe and South America through his undergraduate and veterinary studies. A Central New York native, Dr. Cooley has been active in the local equine community since childhood, showing first ponies in the local hunters and then his off-the-track thoroughbred in USEF hunters and jumpers. In college he took advantage of the excellent hunter pacing in Geneseo, NY. After college he spent a year working at Meadowbrook Stables in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Dr. Cooley is excited to return to his hometown of Marcy, NY. He continues to ride at the equine facility located at his home in Marcy. His wife works as a family physician in the Utica area and competes in hunters and equitation both at USEF and AQHA rated events. Dr. Cooley looks forward to providing quality veterinary services at these competitions in addition to serving the local community. When not involved with horses, Dr. Cooley can be found spending time with his wife and two sons. They enjoy hiking with their Labrador Retriever, triathlons, skiing and rowing.
