Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Ken Scheider joined Perinton Veterinary Hospital in January 2012 as director, but he has been with Monroe Veterinary Associates since 2008. Dr. Scheider grew up in northern New Jersey and received his bachelorÂ’s degree in animal science from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2003. As an undergraduate, he was captain of the track and field team and held the schoolÂ’s record for indoor and outdoor pole vault. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Dr. Scheider received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2007, and he completed his clinical year at the University of Missouri. He then went on to complete a one-year rotating internship at Bay Area Veterinary Specialists in San Leandro, California. Following completion of his rotating internship, he gained two years of specialized surgical training as a surgical intern at Veterinary Specialists of Rochester. Before joining the Perinton veterinary team, Dr. Scheider was an associate at Irondequoit Animal Hospital. His professional interests include small animal orthopedic, soft tissue surgery, and pain management. Dr. Scheider has two dogs, Tiki (11-year-old lab mix) and Lafonda (11-year-old pit bull mix), and an 11-year-old cat named Oliver. During his free time, he enjoys watching football and baseball as well as spending time with his family. He and his wife, Janine (an associate veterinarian at Pittsford Animal Hospital), have two sons, Aiden and Jordan.
