Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Eugene D. Scherline is the founder and owner of the Genesee Valley Veterinary Hospital, a renowned small animal practice that has been serving Livingston and surrounding counties for over three decades. A graduate of Cornell University (1973), Dr. Scherline holds a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Agriculture. Upon graduation, he pursued a clinical internship at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Canada, and then practiced in a small animal medicine and surgery hospital in British Columbia, Canada. In 1975 he returned to the Greater Rochester area, where he has been practicing ever since.Dr. Gene, as he is affectionately known, is regarded for his warm and non-intimidating demeanor. As a pet owner and animal lover, he understands the strong bonds that develop between people and their pets, and is dedicated to providing sensitive and compassionate care. He is a member and past president of the Genesee Valley Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a long time member of the New York State Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Buffalo Academy of Medicine. He has been serving as the Community Representative to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) At SUNY Geneseo for over a decade.Dr. Scherline is active in community affairs and the arts. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Geneseo, Geneseo Community Players, The Festival Chorus of SUNY Geneseo, as well as Livonia Community Players. He and his wife Cristine are longtime residents of Geneseo Village, where they raised their three children.
