Veterinarian Overview
Dr. James Tompsett has been practicing at Genesee Valley Veterinary Hospital since 2004, where he specializes in oral health and internal medicine. He earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell in 1969, and then went on to practice for three years at the Boulevard Animal Hospital in Syracuse. In 1972 he joined the staff at the South Towne Veterinary Hospital in Henrietta, where he was partner then owner from 1974 until 2002. Dr Tompsett practiced part time at South Towne from 2002 until 2004, wDr. Tompsett is a member of the New York State Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Buffalo Academy of Medicine. He has been Director of the New York State Veterinary Medical Societys Veterinary Facility Accreditation Program (VFAP) for the past seven years, and has performed accreditations in the Genesee Valley and Finger Lakes regions for the past ten years.A Rotarian since February 1979, Dr. Tompsett has served as Avon Rotary Club President twice and works on the Foundation Committee both at the club and district level. He is a multiple Paul Harris Recognition recipient.Dr. Tompsett cultivated his affinity for animals on his childhood family farm in Chautauqua County in western New York, where he bred and raised horses. When he is not practicing veterinary medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, kayaking, polo and exploring other equestrian pursuits.He and his wife Sally have four children and five grandchildren. Katherine Kate Page is head Veterinary Technician at Genesee Valley Veterinary Hospital and has been a valued member of the practice since 2004. She graduated from SUNY Delhi in 1999 with an Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in Veterinary Technology. In 2005 she earned an additional certificate as a Veterinary Dental Technician. In addition to her technician responsibilities, Kate manages inventory, oversees OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) requirements, and supervises the kennel staff in their care of the animals. Kate is an avid baker and enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family. She lives in Perry, NY with her two daughters, 3 cats, and 3 hamstersDanielle May joined the Genesee Valley Veterinary Hospital team as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2011. She graduated from SUNY Canton in 2010 with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Science Technology and is currently pursuing a degree in Veterinary Services Management.
