Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Handel has loved animals since he was a boy in Milton, Massachusetts, where he used to scare his mother with frogs and snakes. He earned a B.S. in biology from Purdue University, graduating in 1976. He then went on to study veterinary medicine at the University of Bologna, Italy, where he graduated in 1981.Dr. Handel has many professional interests, including geriatrics, avian medicine, pain management, and behavior.Dr. Handel loves boating, hiking, music (especially jazz and blues,) traveling, and reading. He is a big Red Sox fan. He lives with his wife, Terry, in Hampstead. He has two children, Ian and Laurel, a standard poodle named Louis Pierre Francois Vuitton, and a cat, Simon Oscar de la Renta. Simon was an adoption cat found under a porch at 3 weeks of age. He is beautiful now
