Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Danova attended Michigan State University where she completed her Bachelors of Veterinary Medicine in 1998, and her Doctoral Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000. In July 2000, she began a one-year Small Animal rotating internship with an emphasis in surgery at North Carolina State University. Dr. Danova then spent one year as a surgical research fellow in the Comparative Orthopaedic Research Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin, and remained to complete a three-year Small Animal Surgical Residency. Dr. Danova is the recipient of many awards and honors. Dr. Danova was a staff surgeon in multi-specialty practices in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and the Philadelphia area before joining a referral hospital in Northeastern Pennsylvania as a surgeon, veterinary director and chief operating officer in July, 2008. In December 2009, Dr. Danova established the Veterinary Surgical Center, which functioned temporarily out of the Animal Care Center facility at Johnson College. VSC quickly grew and was expanded into the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, which opened in South Abington Twp., Pennsylvania in May, 2010. Dr. Danovas primary surgical interests are general soft tissue including cardiothoracic, and oncologic procedures, and general orthopaedics including arthroscopy. Her research and publications involve fatigue fractures, pelvic fractures, cranial cruciate disease, gastrointestinal tumors and she has written textbook chapters discussing Surgery of the Female Reproductive System and Surgery of the Nose and Nasopharynx. Dr. Danova is one of only a handful of veterinarians invited to join, and is a proud member of, the Orthopaedic Research Society. She is also a member of American Veterinary Medical Association, and Veterinary Orthopaedics Society, Northeastern Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, Animal Rescue Flights, Pilots n Paws, and the Northeast Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners.
